Fly Khiva Launches New Cargo Route Connecting Europe to Central Asia

Riga International Airport (RIX) has strengthened its position as a key logistics hub in the Baltic region with the launch of a new regular cargo route operated by Fly Khiva. The route connects Riga to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, offering faster and more cost-efficient access to rapidly growing markets for exporting companies. Riga Airport announced the development on February 26, 2026.

Expanding Air Cargo Network

Fly Khiva is expanding its air cargo network with this high-capacity route, providing a strategically significant step for Riga and delivering added value to exporting companies through more convenient, faster, and cost-effective access to new markets. According to a LinkedIn post, the first flight on this route operated successfully on January 25.

Faster Access to Key Markets

The regular cargo service provides a stable and efficient air corridor to the economies of the Middle East, Central Asia, and Asia. Riga’s geographically advantageous location reduces transit times and optimizes supply chain costs. The airport likewise offers multimodal solutions, connecting to road networks, railways, and nearby seaports for seamless transport combinations. Fast customs clearance and a personalized approach further enhance reliability and efficiency.

Route Details and Frequency

Flights operate four times a week on the following routes:

  • Three flights per week: Riga – Karaganda – Hong Kong
  • One flight per week: Riga – Tashkent – Hong Kong

The service operates dedicated cargo aircraft, currently the only solution of its kind from Riga to the Middle East, Central Asia, and onward to Asia. This enables the transportation of oversized, heavy, and high-volume shipments that cannot be carried on passenger aircraft.

Benefits for Businesses

The new logistics corridor provides businesses in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other regional countries with direct access to cargo from Europe, shorter delivery times, and a stable, transparent logistics chain, including the transportation of perishable and urgent goods. Optimized air cargo routes help reduce logistics costs and shorten supply chain times, giving companies a competitive edge in global markets.

Fly Khiva and Partner Support

The launch of this route was made possible through support and partnership with the Embassy of Latvia in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Riga Airport, and Latvijas Pasts.
