Rodecaster Video Core: A New Entry Point to All-in-One Video Production
Rode has expanded its Rodecaster line with the Video Core, a more accessible all-in-one video and audio production console. Positioned below the flagship Rodecaster Video and the mid-range Video S, the Core aims to attract creators new to video production or those looking to integrate HD video capabilities with existing audio setups. The Verge first reported on the new console in January 2026.
Key Features and Connectivity
A significant departure from previous models, the Rodecaster Video Core is controlled entirely through the Rodecaster App, eliminating onboard hardware controls. Connectivity options include three HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, four USB-C ports, two 3.5mm ports, and two Neutrik combo ports.
The console supports up to four video sources simultaneously when using compatible devices connected via USB-C. Network cameras can also be integrated via Ethernet, and the Rode Capture app enables wireless connection of iOS device feeds. Automatic switching based on audio inputs is also a feature, minimizing manual adjustments during multi-person streams.
Integration with Existing Rode Ecosystem
The Rodecaster Video Core is designed to seamlessly integrate with existing Rode audio consoles. The Rodecaster Sync app allows users with a Rodecaster Pro II or Duo to create shortcuts directly on their pads, enabling control of both audio and video from a single desk.
Streaming and Recording Capabilities
The Rodecaster Video Core supports direct streaming to platforms like YouTube, and Twitch. Footage can be recorded to an external drive, and a recent firmware update across the Rodecaster range now includes support for exporting EDL files for DaVinci Resolve. The console also accommodates media imports in non-standard resolutions and aspect ratios, automatically scaling and optimizing them for broadcast.
Pricing and Availability
The Rodecaster Video Core is available for pre-order now at a price of $599. Shipping dates have not yet been announced.
