Rogers Sports & Media confirmed the elimination of 230 positions across its organization on Tuesday. The sweeping restructuring includes the closure of six radio stations nationwide, impacting operations in Vancouver, Calgary, Kitchener, and Halifax.
A Quiet Dial in Four Cities
The company is shuttering specific AM and FM outlets as it retreats from traditional broadcast markets. The following stations are ceasing operations:
- Vancouver: Sportsnet 650 (CISL) and News 1130 (CKWX) — Note: While the News 1130 brand is retiring from the AM dial, its programming will transition to the FM frequency 98.3.
- Calgary: Sportsnet 960 (CFAC).
- Kitchener: Country 106.7 (CIKZ) and CityNews 570 (CKGL).
- Halifax: News 95.7 (CJNI).
