Nevada‘s ‘Silver Belle’ Lights Up the U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and the Nevada Congressional delegation celebrated the lighting of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on December 3, 2025, marking the first time a tree was harvested from nevada for this honor. A Nevada fourth grader, winner of a statewide essay contest, had the privilege of illuminating the tree, sharing his thoughts on Nevada’s public lands.

“I was so proud to represent Nevadans as we officially kicked off the holiday season at the U.S. Capitol with a Christmas tree that was harvested in our state for the first time ever,” said Senator Rosen. “Like every Nevadan, I’m honored to see ‘Silver belle’ on the Capitol lawn, bringing a piece of our state to light up the nation’s capital.Nevadans know that our public lands are among the best in the nation, and tonight we saw that natural beauty on display.”

About the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

This year’s tree, affectionately nicknamed “Silver Belle,” is a 53-foot red fir harvested from the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The tree’s theme, “Starry Skies to Neon Lights – Spirit of the Silver State,” is reflected in the thousands of handmade ornaments created by Nevadans.

“Silver Belle” embarked on a journey from Nevada to Washington,D.C. via truck, making stops in Carson City, Lovelock, Elko, Ely, and Las vegas, allowing communities across the state to participate in the festivity.
