The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is being touted as the most powerful GeForce GPU ever created, designed for both gamers and creative professionals. NVIDIA highlights its ability to handle advanced models and challenging workloads with unprecedented AI horsepower, offering full ray tracing and low latency. The card is powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and features 32 GB of GDDR7 memory.

The 16-Pin Connector Controversy

Reports have emerged regarding issues with the 12+4-pin (often referred to as 16-pin) power connectors used with the RTX 5090. Concerns center around the connectors potentially sliding out of the graphics card, leading to burning and cable damage. These reports initially surfaced in the Czech Republic, with GadgetVersus and other tech publications covering the issue. The problems have been observed even when the power limit is set to 500W.

According to TechPowerUp, the NVIDIA GB202-based RTX 5090 features a base clock speed of 2407 MHz, 21760 CUDA cores, 680 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs), 176 Raster Operation Pipelines (ROPs), and 32768 MB of GDDR7 memory running at 1750 MHz with a 512-bit interface.
