Gardner-Webb Falls to Coastal Carolina, 82-73

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina defeated Gardner-Webb 82-73 on tuesday evening in a non-conference matchup at the HTC Center.

Gardner-Webb (6-8) was led by senior guard DQ Nicholas, who scored 19 points. Senior forward Caleb Robinson added 16 points adn seven rebounds, while junior guard Isaiah Scales chipped in with 11 points.

Coastal carolina (9-5) was paced by senior guard Josh Udechukwu, who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Henry Lowery contributed 18 points, and junior forward John Carter added 14 points.

The game featured several lead changes in the first half, with neither team able to establish a meaningful advantage. Coastal Carolina took a 38-34 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Coastal Carolina extended its lead with a strong offensive performance, shooting 52.9% from the field. Gardner-Webb struggled to keep pace, shooting just 38.9% in the second frame.

Coastal Carolina outscored Gardner-Webb 44-39 in the second half to secure the 82-73 victory.

Gardner-Webb will return to action on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, with a road game against Winthrop at 4 PM.
