Russell Brand Trial Reaches Defence Arguments at Southwark Crown Court
Russell Brand is facing trial at London’s Southwark Crown Court on three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one charge of attempted indecent assault, RTE.ie reported. The 51-year-old former comedian denies all charges involving six women between 1999 and 2009.
Police Interrogations Reveal Lifestyle Reframing Claims
During four police interviews conducted between November 2023 and July 2025, Brand maintained he never engaged in any non-consensual sexual activity, RTE.ie reported. He told detectives that his previous promiscuous lifestyle, which included kissing hundreds of fans and casual encounters, has been unfavourably reframed following media investigations. In a prepared statement, Brand claimed that consensual encounters from decades ago were reimagined after a September 2023 documentary and subsequent newspaper reports.
His barrister, Ian Winter KC, told the court that the defendant denies non-consensual sex and argues some interactions have been reimagined since initial allegations surfaced in 2023, according to Deadline.
Former Personal Assistant Describes Insane Sexual Appetite
Berger told Southwark Crown Court that Brand slept with people day and night, found random women online, and often appeared depressed rather than satisfied after sexual encounters, The Journal reported.
Berger also recalled conducting an interview with actress Sadie Frost while Brand wore only underwear and an open robe, adding that she worked a lot and had to manage her emotions around him, the sources reported. Another witness, identified in court as C3, gave evidence regarding an incident at Soho’s Nordic Bar in July 2004, testifying that Brand grabbed her and orally raped her in a toilet before asking to swap phone numbers, Deadline reported.
Defense Prepares Arguments as Trial Continues
The trial continues at Southwark Crown Court as the defence prepares to present its arguments to the jury. While the prosecution has finished presenting witness statements and video interviews, the article omits the specific details about the defence’s planned arguments, which are not mentioned in the sources.
