Russian Attacks Target Odesa Region’s Energy Infrastructure, Causing Fires But No Casualties

Odesa, Ukraine – February 22, 2026 – Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on the Odesa region, specifically targeting energy infrastructure with drones. The strikes resulted in fires that have since been extinguished, according to reports from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Overnight Drone Strikes Cause Damage

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the enemy struck energy infrastructure facilities in the region overnight, attempting to disrupt electricity and heating services. Rescuers responded to multiple locations, successfully extinguishing all fire outbreaks. RBC Ukraine reports significant damage was caused by the strikes.

No Fatalities or Injuries Reported

Despite the extensive damage to infrastructure, Kiper confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the attacks. An assessment of the condition of the energy facilities and efforts to eliminate the consequences are currently underway.

Previous Night’s Attacks Similarly Targeted Odesa Region

This attack follows a similar incident the previous night, where Russian forces also targeted an energy facility in the Odesa region, causing significant damage. Urban infrastructure and several residential buildings were also damaged during that attack, including an educational institution.

Two Injured in Separate Attack

A separate attack on the Odesa district injured two people, according to Oleg Kiper and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. One individual was hospitalized, while another received on-site assistance. The attack damaged civilian and energy infrastructure, including private homes, a four-apartment building, garages, passenger cars, and a lyceum. UNN reports a warehouse belonging to an energy company was also damaged, and the second floor of the lyceum was destroyed.

Odesa Law College Damaged

On the night of February 21, Russian troops destroyed the building of the Odesa Law College, a historic institution that had survived two world wars. Inkorr reports the college suffered extensive damage.
