Russia Proposes Ukraine Talks in Abu Dhabi After November 4

Russia is planning a mid-November return to trilateral negotiations with Ukraine and the United States, positioning Abu Dhabi as the potential host for renewed diplomatic contacts. Presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov announced Sunday that Moscow is prepared to resume talks following the celebration of National Unity Day on November 4, pointing to the capital of the United Arab Emirates as the prospective venue for the meetings.

The diplomatic push comes as Russian officials outline the framework for these upcoming contacts. Ushakov stated in remarks to Russian public television channel RTR that Ahora mismo la próxima fecha importante es el 4 de noviembre, nuestra gran festividad. Después estaríamos dispuestos a reanudar las negociaciones. He added that these trilateral conversations could serve as a test, noting that no se puede decidir mucho en la primera reunión. Ushakov had previously advanced that Abu Dhabi could host a meeting with Ukraine and the United States around the middle of November, a location that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also mentioned.

Diplomatic History and Trilateral Format

Moscow has further indicated its willingness to incorporate the European Union into the process if the bloc aspira con sinceridad a facilitar un acuerdo pacífico. This diplomatic initiative follows a prior series of structured meetings held under the same trilateral format. Russia, Ukraine, and the United States previously gathered on January 23 and 24, February 4 and 5, and February 17 and 18.

Previous Disruptions and the Road Ahead

A subsequent encounter had been scheduled to take place in the Emirates from March 5 to 8, but that meeting was ultimately postponed following a United States attack against Iran. With the new proposal targeting a post-November 4 resumption, questions remain regarding the formal confirmation from the other participating nations and how the proposed format will address the unresolved agenda left behind by the spring postponement.
