Russian Cargo Ship Boarded by Swedish Authorities
Swedish customs authorities, the coast guard, adn the police boarded the Russian cargo ship “Adler” on sunday night. The ship was anchored in Swedish waters off Höganäs in Skåne.
Several swedish media outlets report the vessel is sanctioned and connect it to Russia’s shadow fleet. Helsingborgs Dagblad states the ship allegedly transported North korean ammunition to Russia and missiles to China.
– We have notified all authorities, says marco Svensson, head of the Swedish Maritime Management’s monitoring center, to the newspaper. He adds that it is unusual for a sanctioned ship to anchor so close to the Swedish coast.
Gothenburg Post references the OpenSanctions database, linking the ship to a shipping company subject to sanctions. The newspaper also reports that “Adler” previously transported weapons.
