Zelenskyy Warns of World War III as Russia Intensifies Attacks on Ukraine

Ukraine is facing a surge in Russian attacks targeting its energy infrastructure and critical facilities, prompting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to warn that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already initiated World War III. Railway infrastructure in the frontline regions of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia was too hit. At least 14 people were injured in the Kharkiv region, including a seven-year-old child, and ten more were injured in Zaporizhzhia, where 19 apartment buildings sustained damage.

President Zelenskyy has condemned the attacks as a deliberate attempt to destroy Ukraine’s energy system and inflict suffering on its civilian population. He emphasized the urgent need for continued air defense support from allies. Zelenskyy has also engaged in diplomatic efforts, including a recent phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, to discuss a potential peace agreement. A major obstacle to peace remains the issue of territory. Russia continues to demand that Ukraine cede control of 20% of the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, territory it has failed to capture militarily.
