Ryan Gosling Lines Up Another Blockbuster, Reuniting with ‘Project Hail Mary’ Team for New Daniels Film

Ryan Gosling is continuing his streak of high-profile projects, set to star in a new, currently untitled film from directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – known collectively as Daniels – following the massive success of their previous film, Everything Everywhere All at Once. This collaboration comes hot on the heels of Gosling’s recent box office hit, Project Hail Mary, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles this summer, with a theatrical release planned for November 19, 2027, according to Deadline.

The Daniels are working with Universal Pictures on this project, building on their success with Everything Everywhere All at Once, which earned them numerous accolades, including Best Picture. The new film will provide them with an expanded creative scope, and Gosling’s involvement signals a continued ability to draw audiences to original, large-scale cinematic experiences. Gosling’s recent performance in Project Hail Mary, which premiered in London on March 9, 2026, and was released in the United States on March 20, 2026, has already grossed $157.3 million, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2026.

Gosling’s versatility as an actor – demonstrated in films ranging from dramatic roles like First Man to comedies like Barbie and action films like The Fall Guy – makes him a strong fit for the Daniels’ signature blend of humor, heart, and existential themes. The Daniels previously described the new project as “fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart. Very existential,” according to Empire.

The film is being produced by Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang through their Playgrounds overall deal with Universal. Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio. Gosling is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern, while the Daniels are represented by Mosaic and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.

Gosling is also currently starring in Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter.
