Ryan Tubridy Threatens Legal Action Over Shane Ross’s RTÉ Scandal Book

Irish radio personality Ryan Tubridy has reportedly threatened legal action against author Shane Ross over his new book, *RTÉ Saints, Scholars and Scandals*, which delves into decades of controversies at Ireland’s national broadcaster, RTÉ. The book, released in May 2026, examines scandals involving high-profile figures such as former RTÉ director general Dee Forbes, Ryan Tubridy, and other broadcasters, according to the Irish Independent.

The Controversial Book and Its Claims

Shane Ross’s work, which charts RTÉ’s governance failures and internal strife, includes detailed accounts of the broadcaster’s financial and managerial challenges. One of the most contentious sections reportedly focuses on the 2023 revelations surrounding Dee Forbes, who was director general until her retirement. The book highlights a suspicious €150,000 payment to Noel Kelly, Ryan Tubridy’s agent, through a “barter” account linked to a UK company, Century Merchandise Services. This payment, initially framed as consultancy fees, later became central to the so-called “Renault deal” scandal, which plagued RTÉ’s leadership.

Tubridy, a longtime host of RTÉ Radio 1’s *The Ryan Tubridy Show*, has not publicly commented on the legal threats. However, the Irish Independent reports that he has raised concerns about the book’s accuracy, though specific details of his grievances
