Sacred Heart Advances in AHA Semifinals with 5-1 Victory Over Robert Morris

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men’s ice hockey team secured a 5-1 victory over Robert Morris in the opening game of the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) semifinals, held at the Martire Family Arena on Friday evening. This win marks the Pioneers’ 22nd of the season, setting a new program record.1

How the Game Unfolded

Robert Morris drew first blood, taking a 1-0 lead at 7:08 of the first period. Despite outshooting the Colonials 13-8 in the first frame, Sacred Heart trailed heading into the intermission.

The Pioneers responded emphatically in the second period, scoring three goals to seize control. Marcus Joughin tied the game just 37 seconds into the period, assisted by Aiden VanRooyan and Reid Pabich. Noah Ellis then gave Sacred Heart a 2-1 advantage at 1:41, with Felix Trudeau providing the assist. Jack Hillier extended the lead with his first collegiate goal, deking the goaltender for a 3-1 score.

Sacred Heart continued its offensive surge in the third period, adding two more goals to secure the 5-1 victory. Vitaly Levyys scored his third consecutive goal, and Reid Pabich capped off the night with his 13th goal of the season, tying a career high.1
