Sam Wood Arrested and Charged with Domestic Violence in Noosa

Fitness personality and former reality television star Sam Wood was arrested and charged with domestic violence offences in Noosa over the weekend, following a police call to a Hastings Street property where he was staying with his family. Queensland Police charged the 46-year-old Victorian man with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting following an incident around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wood remained behind bars on remand after his first court mention at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, where he did not appear in person.

The arrest occurred after police responded to reports of an alleged domestic violence incident at the Noosa address involving Wood, his wife Snezana Markoski, and their daughters. Following the initial court appearance, Wood’s defence lawyer, Mathew Cuskelly, requested an adjournment to Thursday for a scheduled bail application, telling reporters outside the courthouse that his client plans to fight the charges. Both charges carry a maximum sentence of seven years in Queensland upon conviction.

Corporate Partners Distance Themselves from Sam Wood

Days before his arrest, Wood uploaded a now-deleted TikTok video discussing late-night food cravings and how he and his wife manage them. In the footage, Wood explained that he cleans his teeth to signal the end of the evening and asks Markoski to hide sweet snacks from him, jokingly remarking that “even if I’m strangling her to death she will not give it up.” It has been noted that the video does not imply guilt regarding the subsequent charges.

Acting chief executive Mark Watkin released a statement declaring zero tolerance for domestic violence, noting that they were shocked and saddened by the allegations.

Wood and Markoski Cooperate with Authorities

On Monday morning, Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski released a joint statement across their respective Instagram accounts addressing the legal situation. The couple, who met on The Bachelor in 2015 and married in 2018, stated that they are working through the difficult period as a family and cooperating thoroughly with authorities.
