Rumors began circulating online after Guevara posted “new bio” on X on July 19, prompting fans to check his page and notice an absence of any AEW references. Observers quickly assumed he had scrubbed the promotion from his profile due to his limited television appearances throughout 2026.
Addressing the speculation on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez clarified that Guevara’s contract status remains entirely unchanged. According to Alvarez, AEW was never mentioned in Guevara’s social media biography, meaning nothing was actually removed when fans checked the page following his post. Alvarez stated that he confirmed with sources close to the situation that the former TNT Champion’s contract is active and he has not been released.
Roster Status and Limited Television Time
Guevara has remained listed on the official AEW roster page throughout the rumors. As one of the promotion’s original four pillars alongside MJF, Darby Allin, and Jack Perry, his current television usage has drawn significant fan attention. Guevara has wrestled a sparse schedule on AEW broadcasts in 2026, spending the majority of his in-ring time competing for Ring of Honor and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.
Guevara addressed his television absence in an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, stating that his limited appearances are “not my call.” During that same interview, he noted that he was given only a couple of hours of notice prior to his AEW World Championship match against Darby Allin.
Tay Melo Contract Status
In a separate report on Wrestling Observer Radio, Alvarez addressed the status of Guevara’s wife, Tay Melo. According to Alvarez, Melo requested her AEW release at some point in 2025, but the promotion denied the request. Melo has not appeared on AEW television since sustaining a loss to Thekla in November 2025.
