Samsung Showcases Foldable Display Durability and AI-Powered Privacy at MWC26
Barcelona, Spain – Samsung Display is demonstrating significant advancements in OLED technology at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, with a particular focus on the durability of foldable displays and the introduction of AI-powered privacy features. The company’s exhibition, held from March 2-5 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, highlights innovations designed for an increasingly AI-driven world.
Foldable Display Durability Tests
Samsung Display showcased the resilience of its foldable display technology through rigorous testing at MWC26. A unique demonstration involved a backboard constructed from 18 Samsung foldable phones, successfully withstanding repeated impacts from basketballs approximately 20 times without sustaining damage. Samsung Display also conducted a durability test using an automatic golf putting machine, further proving the robustness of the foldable phone displays.
Introducing ‘Flex Magic Pixel™’ for Enhanced Privacy
A key unveiling at MWC26 was ‘Flex Magic Pixel™’ (FMP), an all-in-one privacy protection technology. FMP controls light diffusion on a pixel-by-pixel basis, reducing screen visibility from side angles while maintaining clear picture quality when viewed directly. Samsung Display notes this technology provides a hardware-level security solution, becoming increasingly important as AI functions become more sophisticated and personal data on devices grows.
Galaxy S26 Series and AI Integration
Building on the momentum of Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung is showcasing the Galaxy S26 series and its Agentic AI vision, alongside recent ecosystem innovations like the Galaxy Buds4 series. Samsung Electronics is demonstrating how Galaxy AI works cohesively across mobile and wearables to anticipate user needs and enhance everyday experiences. The Galaxy S26 Ultra model was on display featuring the new FMP technology.
Beyond Smartphones: Innovative Display Concepts
Samsung Display also presented several concept “edge devices” incorporating its OLED technology, including the companion robot concept “Mini PetBot” and the interior décor item “AI Toy House.” The company showcased a virtual reality experience equipped with 5,000 PPI RGB OLEDoS, designed to simulate a K-pop concert. Displays recreating Park Güell tile mosaics using 6.8-inch OLED and 27-inch QD-OLED technology highlighted the high color reproduction and bezel-less design capabilities of Samsung’s displays.
The Future of Displays: Intelligent Interfaces
Eric Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Strategic Marketing at Samsung Display, stated that in the AI era, displays will evolve into intelligent interfaces that understand and respond to users and their surroundings. Samsung Display’s presence at MWC26 underscores its commitment to leading the global display market with state-of-the-art technology.
