Samsung Display officially announced plans to launch its newest high-end OLED monitor which will be available globally in 2026. These monitors will come with a new brand, namely QD-OLED Penta Tandem, and will complement the line of 27 inch and 32 inch monitors that have previously adopted five-stack and EL 3.0 technology.
Penta Tandem QD-OLED Technology Officially Introduced
The designation QD-OLED Penta Tandem is a formalization of the Electroluminescent Layer Gen 3.0 (EL 3.0) technology and the five-stack OLED structure that was the basis for the previous release of QD-OLED monitors. Previously, this technology was informally known as QD-OLED Gen 4 monitors. However, Samsung Display and its partners still market monitors such as the ROG Strix OLED XG32UQDMS as ‘3rd Generation’ or ‘Gen 3’ QD-OLED technology.

The term ‘Penta’ in QD-OLED Penta Tandem refers to the three blue emitting layers and two green emitting layers found in the latest gaming monitors. This technology has been applied to several products already on the market, as compiled by Mureks, including:
- Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM
- Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM3
- Asus ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN
- MSI MPG 272URX (currently priced around $899 on Amazon)
- MSI MPG 341CQR X36
This step is also a response to LG Display which has adopted the ‘Tandem OLED’ brand for its newest WOLED panels.
49 Inch Variant with DQHD Resolution Ready to Launch
In addition to announcing the new brand, Samsung Display also confirmed that a new QD-OLED Penta Tandem segment will arrive at the end of this year. Specifically, the company has outlined that a 49-inch variant is in development. Until now, it is not known which monitor manufacturer will adopt this 49 inch panel.
Samsung Display has confirmed that this larger Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel will produce a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, also known as Dual QHD or DQHD. The company is also likely to supplement this resolution with refresh rate 240 Hz or even 360 Hz, promises a very smooth visual experience for its users.
