Bisnis.comJAKARTA — The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar today Thursday 12 February 2026 is expected to fluctuate but tends to close lower in the range of IDR 16,780 to IDR 16,810 per US dollar.
Based on the data BloombergWednesday (11/2/2026), the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar strengthened 0.15% to IDR 16,786. Meanwhile, the index that measures the performance of the US dollar weakened 0.19% to 96.61.
Apart from the rupiah, currency strengthening was also experienced by the Japanese yen which strengthened 0.87%, the Hong Kong dollar which strengthened 0.03%, the Singapore dollar which strengthened 0.17%, or the Taiwan dollar which strengthened 0.40%.
Apart from that, strengthening was also experienced by the Korean won which rose 0.42%, the Philippine peso rose 0.40%, the Chinese yuan rose 0.02%, and the Thai baht rose 0.40%.
On the other hand, the weakening of the exchange rate was experienced by the Malaysian ringgit which corrected 0.05% and the Indian rupee which weakened 0.10%.
Director of Traze Andalan Futures, Ibrahim Assuaibi, explained that the performance of the currency rupiah on today’s trade is also influenced by sentiments from within and outside the country.
From abroad, the release of weak retail sales data in the US in December 2025 is considered to have encouraged a weaker outlook for economic conditions in Uncle Sam’s country.
“Weaker economic prospects could in turn encourage the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates further this year to support growth,” he said in an official statement, Wednesday (11/2/2026).
This is also in line with US government bond yields which fell due to this sentiment, while the dollar seemed difficult to recover from the correction recorded on Monday.
In addition, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the nuclear talks with the US had allowed Iran to know Washington’s seriousness about resuming diplomacy.
Meanwhile, from within the country, the government’s action to launch the I-2026 Economic Stimulus Package, which includes transportation discount policies, work from anywhere (WFA), and food assistance, is seen as an effort to provide relief for the community ahead of the holidays.

Rupiah Closed Weaker at IDR 16,828 per US Dollar
Based on the data Bloombergthe rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar closed with a correction of 0.25% to a level of IDR 16,828 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the index that measures the performance of the US dollar rose 0.01% to 96.84.
On the other hand, the performance of the Japanese yen actually strengthened 0.23%, the Hong Kong dollar strengthened 0.02%, the Singapore dollar strengthened 0.01%, or the Taiwan dollar also strengthened 0.08%.
Apart from that, the performance of the Korean won also strengthened 0.54%, the Philippine peso strengthened 0.32%, the Indian rupee strengthened 0.12%, the Chinese yuan strengthened 0.14%, the Malaysian ringgit strengthened 0.12%, and the Thai baht strengthened 0.14%.

Rupiah opens sluggish to IDR 16,813 per US dollar
The rupiah exchange rate today, Thursday (12/2/2026) opened lower.
According to Bloomberg at 09.09 WIB, the rupiah exchange rate fell 0.16% or 27 points to IDR 16,813 per US dollar.
At the same time, the US dollar index weakened 0.02% to 96.81.
