Santa Cruz de Tenerife Launches Spring 2026 Youth Programming
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is set to launch its spring 2026 programming through the Youth District program, offering a diverse range of activities for young people throughout April, May and June. The initiative aims to provide opportunities for training, leisure, cultural engagement, sports, and exploration of new technologies, fostering spaces for connection, participation, and personal growth.
Commitment to Youth Development
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez emphasized the City Council’s dedication to supporting youth through this programming, stating it provides “healthy leisure alternatives and spaces where they can develop personally and socially, also strengthening the community fabric in the districts.” Councilor for Education, Youth and Social Policies, Charín González, added that “Distrito Joven continues to consolidate itself as a benchmark in youth revitalization, with activities adapted to current interests, promoting creativity, training and coexistence in safe and inclusive environments.”
April: Creativity and Active Leisure
April’s programming focuses on artistic expression and creative leisure. Workshops include Pouring Art (fluid painting) and an Introduction to Watercolor, allowing young people to experiment with painting techniques. The Role Classroom will teach character design and game development, promoting narrative creativity and teamwork. A Styling Workshop will focus on personal identity through image, and ProNails will offer advanced creative design in aesthetics.
Recreational activities include Karaoke and Initiation to paddle tennis, promoting confidence, musical expression, healthy habits, and teamwork. The From Our View: Youth Newspaper workshop will develop communication skills, critical thinking, and collaborative work. A Trail in Anaga will encourage environmental respect and coexistence. The Young People’s Evening in the Southwest, on April 25th in La Estrella Park, will feature sports, creativity, an escape room, gaming, and participatory dynamics.
May: Canarian Identity, Training, and Intergenerational Connections
May’s programming highlights Canarian culture and education, coinciding with Canary Islands Day. Activities like the Anaga Trail and Youth Newspaper continue, while new offerings include K-Pop Dance, combining body expression, rhythm, and teamwork. The Octem Tournament will introduce young people to Canarian culture through play, and a Study Techniques and Emotional Academic Reinforcement workshop will provide tools for well-being and academic success.
Traditional workshops such as Canarian Embroidery and Canarian Sports will reinforce cultural heritage. Artistic proposals include Floral Painting, Introduction to Animal Drawing, and Decotejas. A Canarian Intergenerational Meeting will bring young people and adults together for traditional games, music, and cultural activities, fostering the exchange of experiences and strengthening community ties.
June: Innovation, Technology, and a Program Closing
June’s programming combines innovation, technology, and active leisure. K-Pop Dance returns, alongside a Fluorescent Painting workshop utilizing ultraviolet light. An Initiation to video game development workshop will introduce programming, design, and interactive narrative. Contact with nature continues with an Intermunicipal Trail and a Camping + Trail activity. A FIFA Tournament will offer a competitive digital experience promoting fair play and participation.
