Saratoga Chairman Do Yong-bok “Show me the law that heaven helps those who are good.”

On the evening of the 14th, the first Korean performance of the ‘2026 Shen Yun World Tour’ was held at the Dream Theater in Busan. Saratoga Chairman Do Yong-bok, who visited the performance hall that day, deeply sympathized with the moral message conveyed by the stage.

Chairman Do chose the dance drama ‘Unchanging Heart’, which deals with the reality of human rights in China, as the most impressive scene in the performance program. ‘Unchanging Heart’ tells the story of a mother and son who practice Falun Gong. The son is caught by the police while training, has his eyes removed in prison, and returns to his mother. He interpreted the narrative in the work through classical Eastern philosophy.

“Something difficult happened to the son, and the mother’s earnestness reached heaven, allowing heaven to heal the child. According to Myeongmyeongbogam, ‘A hypocrite will be blessed by heaven, and a hypocrite will be blessed. There is a phrase that says, ‘If a child is good, heaven will help him, and if he is not good, heaven will bring misfortune to him.’ I think the play contains this meaning.”

Every year, Shen Yun tells the story of modern Chinese society through dance plays. The persecution that Falun Gong practitioners experience and the process of sublimating this into beliefs embody the values of ‘truth, goodness, and humanity.’ Chairman Do focused on the power of stories told only through gestures and without dialogue.

“Shen Yun is a pantomime, but it has the emotion of pantomime. I think it’s the kind of dance that soaks the soul. I loved it.”

He also commented favorably on the dancers’ skills, saying, “It seems like they are performing at a world-class level or higher, and everything is included, making it unique.”

Shen Yun’s art form, which audiences often feel is similar to ballet or modern dance, is actually ‘classical Chinese dance.’ Techniques such as spinning and flipping that can be seen in Western ballet and gymnastics were originally developed from the Chinese classical dance system. Shen Yun eliminates corrupted techniques and embodies the pure original form of classical Chinese dance with 5,000 years of history on stage.

Chairman Do expressed surprise at the overall quality of the performance and was especially impressed by the digital stage background. Shen Yun uses 3D digital stage background technology patented in the United States in 2016. The dancers on stage and the characters in the background interact, expanding the stage space infinitely.

The ‘2026 Shen Yun World Tour’ is scheduled to perform once in Busan on the 15th and then continue with performances in Daegu.
