Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy Guthrie, Remains Missing; Family Renews Plea for Information
The family of Nancy Guthrie, the missing mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has issued a renewed plea for information in hopes of finding her. Authorities have been searching for the 84-year-old since she was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1st.
Recent Appeals and Ongoing Investigation
Savannah Guthrie and her family shared a statement on Sunday, expressing gratitude for the community’s support and urging residents of Tucson and southern Arizona to revisit their memories from January 31st to February 1st, as well as the evening of January 11th. They specifically requested that individuals check camera footage, journal notes, text messages, and any observations that might seem insignificant. CBS News reported on the renewed appeal.
The family acknowledged the possibility that Nancy Guthrie may no longer be alive, stating, “We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder.”
Police Investigation and Leads
Law enforcement officials have obtained and reviewed additional surveillance footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home, but no suspicious activity or the suspect was identified on the front door camera. CBS News cited sources indicating the investigation is hampered by a lack of meaningful leads.
Retired FBI supervisory special agent Lance Leising told CBS News that the case is becoming more challenging as time passes and new leads become harder to uncover.
Investigators are currently analyzing DNA recovered from the scene and utilizing forensic genetic genealogy to potentially identify new leads. CBS News reported this information.
