In a significant move to advance technological education and research, Sberbank, the Government of Tatarstan, and Innopolis University have signed a collaboration agreement to implement generative artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education, scientific research, and engineering. The partnership was formalized at the XXIX Petersburg International Economic Forum (PIEF) on June 5, 2026, marking a pivotal step toward modernizing academic and industrial practices in the region.
AI-Driven Education and Research Initiatives
The collaboration aims to leverage AI-native approaches to enhance educational quality, personalize learning, and accelerate scientific discovery. Starting from the next academic year, first-year students enrolled in the “Information Systems Engineering” program will pilot AI-assisted learning. This initiative includes access to AI tools for programming, collaborative projects, and instructor support through AI assistants for course updates, assignment grading, and performance analysis.
In scientific research, the partners will explore AI applications for information retrieval, hypothesis generation, and data analysis. The goal is to develop scalable solutions that streamline research workflows and foster innovation.
