Kraken Secure Future with Contract Extensions for Forwards Ben Meyers and Ryan Winterton

SEATTLE (Feb. 24, 2026) — The Seattle Kraken have announced two-year contract extensions for forwards Ben Meyers and Ryan Winterton, securing their positions with the club through the 2027-28 season. The announcements were made by General Manager Jason Botterill on Monday.

Ben Meyers: A Versatile Asset

Ben Meyers, 27, will continue with the Kraken on a two-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $1 million. Botterill highlighted Meyers as “an integral part of our team,” praising his versatility and passion for the game.

During the 2025-26 season, Meyers split time between the Kraken and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. He registered 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 31 games with Seattle and 13 points (9 goals, 4 assists) in 11 games with Coachella. Throughout his NHL career, spanning 106 games with Seattle, Colorado, and Anaheim, Meyers has accumulated 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists). He also has six Stanley Cup Playoff games under his belt, appearing with Colorado in 2023.

The 2024-25 season saw Meyers excel with the Firebirds, setting personal bests with 23 goals, 28 assists, and 51 points in 57 regular-season games. He led Coachella in points, ranked second in goals, and tied for third in assists. He also contributed three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in six Calder Cup Playoff games. At the AHL level, Meyers has a total of 113 points (49 goals, 64 assists) in 130 regular-season games and four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in eight Calder Cup Playoff games.

Prior to his professional career, Meyers played three seasons of NCAA hockey at the University of Minnesota (2019-22).

Ryan Winterton: Developing Forward

Ryan Winterton, 22, has also signed a two-year contract extension with an AAV of $1.125 million. Botterill noted Winterton’s progress, stating he has “carved out a role on this team with his speed and strong two-way game.”

In his first full season with Seattle, Winterton recorded 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) in 54 games. He has appeared in 75 career NHL games with the Kraken. He spent much of the previous two seasons with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, totaling 72 points (40 goals, 32 assists) in 114 games. In the 2024-25 season, he ranked third on the Firebirds in goals (18) and sixth in points (37) over 56 games, adding 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 22 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Before turning pro, Winterton played 124 games in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) over three seasons (2019-2023) with the Hamilton Bulldogs and London Knights, registering 72 points (40 goals, 32 assists). He won a championship with the Bulldogs in 2022 and was selected by the Kraken in the third round (67th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.
