Senegal to Celebrate CAN Title at Stade de France Despite CAF Ruling

Despite the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to strip Senegal of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is proceeding with plans to celebrate the championship with its supporters.

Celebration Planned at Stade de France

The celebration will take place on Saturday, March 28, at the Stade de France in Paris, coinciding with a friendly match against Peru. The FSF intends to present the CAN trophy to fans, accompanied by a concert featuring prominent artists, including French rapper Booba and Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Dour Foot Mercato.

Appeal to CAS and Allegations of Corruption

The FSF has announced its intention to appeal the CAF’s decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and has requested an international investigation into alleged corruption within CAF’s governing bodies Foot Mercato. This move underscores Senegal’s firm belief that they rightfully won the title on the field.

Player and Fan Support

Senegalese players have voiced their support for celebrating the victory, maintaining that the title was earned through their performance. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Habib Diarra, and Pape Gueye have encouraged supporters to attend the event at the Stade de France and celebrate with them RMC Sport.
