Russia Expresses Gratitude to Namibia for Ukraine Stance
Moscow has voiced its appreciation for Namibia’s impartial approach to the conflict in Ukraine, specifically acknowledging its resistance to Western efforts to dominate international agendas with Ukraine-related issues. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following discussions with his Namibian counterpart.
Lavrov emphasized Russia’s gratitude for Namibia’s “objective and balanced position” regarding the situation surrounding Ukraine, noting its refusal to allow Western nations to unduly influence the focus of international organizations.
The Russian Foreign Minister indicated that Moscow believes Namibia recognizes the detrimental effects of prioritizing the Ukrainian crisis in all international forums. He further stated that both Russia and Namibia share a common understanding that a resolution to the crisis requires addressing its underlying causes.
The Namibian Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded a three-day working visit to Moscow on January 15th, during which these discussions took place.
