Simon Fraser University Swimmers Compete at NCAA Division II Championships
The Simon Fraser University (SFU) swim team will send 10 athletes to the 2026 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, taking place from March 10-14 at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana NCAA.com.
Women’s Team Qualifiers
The SFU women’s team boasts a strong contingent of qualifiers with potential for All-American honors.
- Abby Andrews (Junior): Will compete in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle, as well as the 400 individual medley. Andrews qualified for the 1650 in 7th place and will similarly participate in relays.
- Madi Connell (Freshman): Will contribute to SFU in relay events.
- Jessie Dreghici (Freshman): Will race in the 200 and 400 individual medley, alongside the 500 and 1650 freestyle. Dreghici currently ranks 8th in the 500 freestyle and will be a relay member.
- Keira Kennedy (Sophomore): Will compete in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle. Kennedy is currently ranked in the top 8 in the 500 (6th), 1000 (7th), and 1650 (4th), and will also swim on relays.
- Ryan Leslie (Freshman): Will compete for SFU in relays.
- Laine Perry (Junior): Will compete for SFU in relays.
- Alyssa Whitmore (Senior): Qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle, as well as the 100 butterfly, and will be part of relay teams.
- Delrae Vetter (Senior): Will race in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle. Vetter currently sits 5th in the 1650 freestyle and will be a relay member.
Men’s Team Qualifiers
The SFU men’s team will be represented by two dynamic swimmers.
- Evan Vellescig (Freshman): Will compete in the 100 and 200 individual medley, as well as the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
- Owen Nicholson (Junior): Will race in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle, and the 400 individual medley.
The Red Leafs have demonstrated a successful season and are prepared to represent SFU on the national stage. Live results will be available from March 10-14.
