Enna Calcio Sale Postponed: Travagin and Garofalo to Sign Friday

The sale of Enna Calcio, expected to close this week, has slipped by several days after a last-minute bureaucratic snag, ViviEnna reported. Instead of signing on the planned date, outgoing president Giancarlo Travagin and the Enna-based group led by Filippo Garofalo will meet Friday to put the final signatures on the transfer of the club.

The delay stems from a member of the future board of directors nominated by the incoming ownership, who holds other positions that make him incompatible with the role, Travagin told ViviEnna. That incompatibility blocked the signing of the assembly minutes — already prepared alongside the resignations — and the payment, leaving the deal one formal step short of completion.

goalsicilia.it, citing La Sicilia, reported that the framework agreement had been expected to be signed on the day of its report and that Garofalo had already forwarded the draft to his legal and commercial consultants to examine whether future obstacles could arise for his project.

Travagin: Friday’s Signatures and Bank Transfer Close the Deal

Travagin said the path is already set: the incoming group must communicate tomorrow the name that will replace the incompatible board member, and that name will be inserted into the minutes. Friday is set for the bank transfer, after which Travagin will sign and the operation will be closed, ViviEnna reported.

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed; my will is to sell immediately,” Travagin said. He rejected rumors that he had raised the price, saying, “I don’t want to raise any stakes, I only want things done properly.”

Garofalo Verifies Debts Before Acquisition

Garofalo, for his part, told La Sicilia — as relayed by goalsicilia.it — that he wants to check every detail before officially taking control. “We are paying attention to some aspects linked to possible outstanding debts, to avoid surprises afterward; a deeper check to protect ourselves, but that’s how it works in every sale-acquisition,” he said.

Travagin struck back with a heavier accusation, also reported by La Sicilia: “If they accept, I’m ready to sign immediately; otherwise I don’t know what to say. Until I see the transfers and the signatures on the agreement I can’t say how it will end, but I can say that in Enna there is someone whose strategy is to bring the company to bankruptcy.”

What Garofalo Plans Once the Deal Closes

Garofalo said that immediately after a positive closing he would announce the full staff — from the general director to the medical staff and warehouse workers — all people from Enna, to give the club a clear identity, goalsicilia.it reported. He also left the door open to keeping Alfredo Cimino as head coach, praising the coach’s work: Cimino “acted as a father to the boys in these difficult months,” and the team drew 2-2 with Igea on Sunday only after a physical drop allowed the comeback.

Travagin’s Account of a Tense Three Months

Looking back over his tenure, Travagin told ViviEnna the project began with the support of dozens of businessmen and then, in his telling, turned into a climate of tension — fueled by a sharp confrontation with the Crisafulli municipal administration — marked by banners and chants from fans, a climate he said pushed him to leave.

Questions Enna Fans Still Want Answered

When will the sale actually be finalized? ViviEnna reports the parties will meet Friday for the signatures and the bank transfer that should make the transfer definitive.

Who is buying Enna Calcio? The buyer is the Enna-based group represented by entrepreneur Filippo Garofalo, according to both ViviEnna and goalsicilia.it.

Will coach Alfredo Cimino stay? goalsicilia.it reports Garofalo intends to confirm Cimino if the deal goes through, citing the coach’s human work with the squad.

Whether Friday’s meeting closes the deal remains unknown until the replacement board name is communicated and the signatures and payment actually happen — Travagin himself said he cannot say how it will end until he sees both.
