salford City FC has confirmed that AIG has become its largest shareholder and long-term strategic partner in a multi-year agreement running thru the 2029/2030 season.

The deal has expanded AIG’s involvement with the club, following its initial investment in August 2025 when it became the first Fortune 500 company to take an ownership stake in a League Two english Football League side. AIG has now become the majority shareholder,with the partnership including extensive brand visibility and further activations to be introduced during the 2026/2027 season.

The agreement has covered investment in football operations, infrastructure advancement, commercial growth, and community initiatives through the club’s foundation.It has also included collaboration with Palantir to apply generative artificial intelligence to data-led decision-making. Salford City FC and AIG have confirmed that they will explore opportunities to extend their partnership into women’s football.

The ownership group of Salford City FC, which has included Sir David Beckham, Gary Neville, Declan Kelly and Lord Mervyn Davies, has stated that the partnership has aligned with its long-term vision of building a high-performance club with strong foundations on and off the pitch.

AIG has continued to expand its presence in sport, with this agreement marking one of the most meaningful commercial partnerships in English lower-league football. It has come at a time when investment in data, infrastructure and women’s sport has been increasingly prioritised across UK football.


Arsenal Women champion outdoor play

Arsenal Women have partnered with Unilever brand Dirt Is Good to launch a new print and out-of-home (OOH) campaign.

Timed to coincide with the Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) awards, the activation aims to encourage outdoor activity among young girls. The campaign utilises childhood photographs of SPOTY nominee Chloe Kelly, alongside teammates Beth Mead, alessia Russo, and Lotte Wubben-Moy.

The creative will be displayed across print media and billboards outside Emirates Stadium in London and MediaCity in Salford.

This initiative responds to new data from Sport England’s Active Lives 2024-25 survey, which indicates that girls are 22% less likely than boys to be active outdoors outside of school hours.
