Two Siksorogo Lawu Ultra Runners Die of Heart Attacks

Jakarta – Two participants in the Siksorogo Lawu Ultra run, Pujo Buntoro (55) and Sigit Joko Purnomo (45), died while taking part in the 15 kilometer race on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The two runners died at Mitis Hill, kilometer 12 and Bukit cemoro Wayang, kilometer 8.

Head of Public Relations for the Karanganyar Police, Inspector Mulyadi, stated that authorities received reports of unconscious runners. One of the runners was Sigit Joko Purnomo.

“The incident was reported this morning at 10:44 AM WIB and again at 11:30 AM WIB, in two diffrent locations, one at Bukit Wilis and one at Bukit Cemoro Wayang,” he said in a written statement received by detikJateng, Sunday, December 7, 2025.

mulyadi said Sigit was found unconscious on Mitis Hill,at kilometer 12 of the 15 kilometer Siksorogo route.It was raining heavily at the time of the incident. Shortly after, organizers received information that another runner had fainted at Cemoro wayang.
