For years, fans have been waiting in vain for the return of the Silent Hill franchise that dominated the early 2000s. Between 2013 and 2023, the franchise showed essentially no signs of life, except for the legendary PT demo. Then around 2023-24, things started to pick up. On the one hand, the Silent Hill 2 remake, then the Silent Hill f too. At State of Play, it was finally officially announced that the Silent Hill: Townfall.
The story takes place in 1996 on the island of St. Amelia. The main character, Simon Ordell, comes from this Scottish island, but his past is full of dark spots and mysteries. In order to reveal and understand them, you must return to the island and the city that stands there, seemingly abandoned by its former inhabitants. Now a thick fog has settled over him and every moment one feels that one is not alone.
The game’s big show may be that, unlike several episodes of the franchise, here we will not be controlling our hero in a TPS view, but in an FPS view. This trick came in handy a few years ago for the Resident Evil franchise, it is possible that the developer of Silent Hill: Townfallt Screen Burn studio and the Konami he also took his inspiration from here. There will be close combat in the game, for which we can use sticks, pipes and other similar objects (and sometimes firearms as well), but it will often be more appropriate to simply hide. A gadget that allows Simon to see the enemy lurking nearby will help with the latter.
As of now, Silent Hill: Townfall is being prepared for PC and PlayStation 5, there is no news about Xbox Series X/S yet. However, it is not yet known exactly when it will appear, the plans are in any case for 2026.
