D4vd Arrested in Connection with Death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez
Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested on April 16, 2026, on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to him.
Discovery of the Remains
On September 8, 2024, police responded to a report of a foul odor coming from an abandoned Tesla in a tow yard in Hollywood. Upon inspection, officers found a black cadaver bag in the vehicle’s trunk containing a decomposed head and torso. A second bag underneath held dismembered body parts. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the remains belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore on April 5, 2024. At the time of her disappearance, she was 13 years old; authorities list her age as 14 at the time of her death.
Investigation and Arrest
The vehicle was traced to D4vd through its registration. A Los Angeles County grand jury had previously investigated the singer in connection with Hernandez’s death, though proceedings were confidential. His involvement became public in February 2025 when his family objected in a Texas court to subpoenas seeking their testimony. On April 16, 2026, the Los Angeles Police Department announced D4vd’s arrest. He is being held without bail, and the case is set to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.

His breakout single “Here With Me” gained widespread popularity, leading to the release of his debut album Withered. Ongoing Proceedings
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office major crimes division will review the case. No further details about potential charges or court proceedings have been released as of the date of arrest.
