Project Overview
The 3.2-mile windsor Extension extends SMART’s commuter rail service northward from the Sonoma County Airport Station to downtown Windsor. The project considerably improves regional connectivity and offers a variety of transportation options, including:
* New Multimodal Station: Provides a central hub for rail and other forms of transportation.
* Five Rebuilt Rail Bridges: Ensures safe and reliable rail operation.
* Two Pedestrian Bridges: Enhances pedestrian access and safety.
* Pedestrian underpass: Further improves pedestrian connectivity.
* 2.6-Mile Non-Motorized Pathway: Connects Windsor residents to SMART’s active transportation network, promoting walking and cycling.
STV’s Role and Expertise
STV served as the multidisciplinary design partner for the extension, providing a comprehensive range of engineering and design services. https://www.stvinc.com/ These services included:
* civil Engineering
* Structural Engineering
* Rail Engineering
