Sony WF-1000XM6: New ANC Chip & Tuning – Review

KOMPAS.com – Sony officially introduces the device True Wireless Stereo (TWS) wireless flagship the newest, namely the Sony WF-1000XM6 on Thursday (12/2/2026). This device comes as a successor to the WF-1000XM5 which was launched two years ago.

As successor, Sony claims that the WF-1000XM6 is earbud with better performance. There are a number of improvements presented, starting from audio quality, noise reduction (active noice cancelling/ANC), to connectivity.

Sony’s newest earbuds are now equipped with the latest version of the Integrated Processor V4 which supports 32-bit audio processing. In comparison, the previous generation still relied on 24-bit processing.

With this improvement, Sony claims the WF-1000XM6 is able to provide better clarity, dynamic range and sound detail.

ANC is stronger

Significant improvements are present in the noise reduction (ANC) feature sector. Sony WF-1000XM6 is equipped chip noice cancelling QN3e. Chip this was previously used in headphones over-ear WH-1000XM6.

Sony claims that the ANC system on the WF-1000XM6 offers up to 25 percent better noise reduction effectiveness than its predecessor, especially in the mid to high frequency range.

This ANC system is also equipped adaptive noice cancelling optimizerallowing the device to analyze the sounds around the user and adjust noise cancellation accordingly real-time, according to the way earbud charged

To support this capability, Sony has also embedded two additional external-facing microphones. So, there are a total of four microphones in each earbud.

Wear it tuning special

Sony WF-1000XM6 uses driver dynamic measuring 8.4 mm.

This TWS is called gain tuning special sound created through Sony’s collaboration with a number of recording studios affiliated with Sony Music.

This device also supports various codec audio, including AAC, SBC, LC3, and LDAC. Sony’s DSEE Extreme technology is also embedded which utilizes AI algorithms to improve the quality of compressed audio files.

For users who want to adjust the sound character, Sony presents the latest 10-band equalizer (EQ). These settings can be accessed via the Sound Connect app on the mobile device.

The Sony WF-1000XM6 is available in two color choices, Black and Silver.

Sony also improved the quality of connectivity by enlarging the internal antenna inside earbud up to 1.5 times compared to the previous generation. This change is claimed to make the connection more stable and reliable.

The company calls it fashion ambient on the WF-1000XM6 it now sounds more natural and realistic. That way, environmental sounds can be heard more clearly when this feature is activated.

Lasts up to 8 hours

In terms of power, the Sony WF-1000XM6 is equipped with a battery that can last up to 8 hours of use, equivalent to the XM5 generation.

Casing The charger (case) provides two additional full charges, bringing the total battery life to 24 hours.

Earbud it also supports wireless charging (wireless) and has IPX4 water resistance certification.
