SC State‘s Myles Norwood named MEAC Defensive Player of the Year
south Carolina State defensive back Myles Norwood has been named the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Friday.
Norwood, a senior from Gray Court, South Carolina, lead the Bulldogs with 64 total tackles, including 35 solo stops. He also recorded 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and seven pass breakups.
“Myles is a true leader on and off the field,” SC State coach Oliver Pough said in a statement. “He’s a hard worker and a dedicated player who always puts the team first. He’s deserving of this honor.”
Norwood is the fourth SC State player to earn MEAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, joining Darius Hemmings (2010), Joe Thomas (2011) and Darius Leonard (2017).
He was also named to the All-MEAC First Team, along with teammates Tyrell Moultrie and Zay Williams.
SC State finished the season with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the MEAC.
