Richard Kauff Pretrial Hearing Resumes After Attorney’s Involvement in Walshe Murder Trial

NORWELL, MA – Richard Kauff, the former pediatrician facing multiple charges of sexual assault against patients, will reappear in brockton Superior Court on Friday, January 9, 2026, for a resumption of his pretrial hearing. The hearing had been postponed since October 14, 2025, due to the professional obligations of Kauff’s attorney, Kelli Porges.

Porges served as co-counsel in the highly publicized Brian Walshe murder trial, necessitating a pause in Kauff’s legal proceedings. With the Walshe trial concluded, the court is now able to move forward with Kauff’s case.

Kauff practiced pediatrics at South Shore Medical Center for four decades, from 1983 to 2023, before allegations of abuse surfaced and led to his arrest. The charges against him involve multiple former patients. The upcoming hearing will likely address scheduling for future court dates and perhaps discuss evidence presented by the prosecution and defense.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more data becomes available.
