A Taste of Spain in Costa Rica: San José Hosts Vibrant Gastronomy Fair

San José, Costa Rica – The National Park in San José transformed into a bustling Spanish plaza on Saturday, March 7, 2026, as it hosted the Spanish Gastronomy Fair. The full-day event, organized by the Spanish Embassy in Costa Rica, offered residents and visitors a rich cultural and culinary experience celebrating the flavors and traditions of Spain. The fair concluded at 6:00 p.m.

A Culinary Journey Through Spain

More than 20 Spanish restaurants participated in the fair, serving up classic dishes such as paella, tapas, cured meats, churros, and sangria. Attendees could as well enjoy Spanish wines and beers. Participating restaurants included Ax Tapas, Don Pascualón, Nina y Pepe, Granier, Taberna La Santuca, Iberik, and Loreto Pastelería. Additional entrepreneurs featured Rusticpa Panadería, Indudi Enlatados, Ariixo, Ciamiesa Vinos, and De Baile by Lilli.

Culture and Entertainment

The Spanish Gastronomy Fair wasn’t just about food; it also showcased Spanish culture through a variety of performances. The event featured flamenco and zarzuela dance performances, a live Spanish music concert, and shows from El Tablao Flamenco, Flamenco Punta y Tacón, Allan Naranjo, Grupo Junglaria, and Grupo Mestizzo. The day culminated with a performance by soprano Ana Yancy Quirós.
