Spar Tullow Hosts Coffee Morning for Sharon Timmins After Stroke and Brain Bleed
A Spar convenience store in Tullow, County Carlow, is hosting a “Coffee and Cake” day to raise funds for mother Sharon Timmins, who is recovering from a massive brain bleed, seizures, and a stroke. The fundraising event runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with all proceeds supporting Timmins and her family during her ongoing recovery.
In January, Timmins suffered a severe medical emergency consisting of a massive brain bleed followed by seizures and a stroke, according to a GoFundMe campaign established by her husband, Damien. The medical crisis required an extended hospital stay, including six weeks on life support at Beaumont Hospital. Following her time in Beaumont, Timmins spent three weeks in intensive care before transitioning to St. Luke’s Hospital and Sacred Hospital Carlow for rehabilitation.
Timmins returned home on May 20. Her husband shared that while progress will be slow and lengthy, she is doing well overall following the difficult period for the family and their two sons.

The medical emergency compounds a difficult few years for the family. Alongside her recent neurological challenges, Timmins has lived with two types of arthritis since her mid-30s. The family also experienced the deaths of both parents, caring for Timmins’s father at home until his death in May 2024 and her mother until October 2025.
The GoFundMe campaign organized by Damien Timmins has raised more than €3,000 to date. Spar Tullow announced the upcoming coffee morning via social media, encouraging local residents to stop by between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to contribute to the ongoing fundraising efforts for the family.
