Splatoon Raiders Announced as First-Ever Spinoff for Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo has officially unveiled Splatoon Raiders, the first-ever spinoff in the Splatoon series, set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during a special presentation on June 10, 2025, accompanied by a new trailer showcasing gameplay and story details.
In Splatoon Raiders, players take on the role of a mechanic exploring the mysterious Spirhalite Islands alongside the popular idol trio Deep Cut. The game blends adventure elements with the series’ signature ink-based combat, offering a fresh take on the Splatoon universe.
Alongside the game reveal, Nintendo confirmed that a free update for Splatoon 3 will be released on June 12, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 systems. This update introduces the Splatlands collection — 30 new weapon kits from the Barazushi and Emberz brands — adds the returning stage Urchin Underpass from the original Wii U Splatoon, raises weapon Freshness caps, and introduces new in-game Badges. A new stat called Series Weapon Power will also be added to Anarchy Battle (Series) mode to match players by effectiveness per weapon.
The update enhances visual fidelity on Switch 2, particularly in locations like Splatsville and the Grand Festival Grounds, and enables cross-platform play between Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 users in Splatoon 3.
More information about Splatoon Raiders, including its exact release date and additional features, will be shared in the future. For ongoing updates, fans are encouraged to follow the official Squid Research Lab accounts.
