Spotify Partners with National Independent Venue Association to Support Los Angeles Music Venues

On April 15, 2026, Spotify announced a partnership with the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) to support independent music venues in Los Angeles. The initiative aims to boost visibility for historic and independent venues such as the Troubadour and the Paramount, as well as the musicians who perform there.

As part of the yearlong collaboration, Spotify will feature a monthly “Independent Booker Spotlight” playlist curated by venue bookers in collaboration with Spotify’s editorial team. The program will also introduce a “Certified Live Independent” badge to highlight participating venues’ contributions to the local music scene.

The Regent Theater, Gold Diggers, the Teragram Ballroom, and the United Theater on Broadway are among the venues included in the initiative. Spotify’s live events feed will be updated daily to surface relevant concerts in the Los Angeles area, linking listeners to music from local artists and their performances at these clubs.

The partnership comes amid increased scrutiny of Live Nation and Ticketmaster over alleged monopolistic practices, reflecting growing momentum for independent music venue support. Spotify’s live events feature, which refreshes daily, helps listeners discover nearby concerts based on their listening habits, location, and genre preferences.

Listeners can follow their favorite venues on Spotify to receive updates on upcoming shows and explore new spots nearby. With more than 20,000 venues listed worldwide—from iconic arenas to independent clubs—Spotify aims to strengthen connections between fans and live music spaces.

This initiative builds on Spotify’s earlier efforts to support live music discovery, including the “Concerts Near You” feature launched in March 2025, which has been used by over 3 million people to find local events.
