Squishmallows Team Up with Vanderbilt Athletics for March Madness Collaboration

PLANTATION, Fla. – Vanderbilt University and Squishmallows are joining forces for a unique collaboration leading up to March Madness. The partnership, announced on February 16, 2026, will bring the popular plush toys to Vanderbilt’s men’s and women’s basketball games with exclusive giveaways and on-court entertainment.

Exclusive Giveaways and On-Court Fun

Fans attending the Vanderbilt men’s basketball game against Georgia on February 25 and the women’s basketball game against Alabama on February 26 at Memorial Gymnasium will have the opportunity to receive exclusive Sawyer and Reza Squishmallows designed with Vanderbilt apparel. The first 5,000 fans at each game will receive a custom-designed premium plush. Limited-edition chase plush with sparkle details will also be available.

Pregame Activations and Mascot Appearances

The collaboration extends beyond giveaways, with Squishmallows hosting pregame activations and surprise moments for attendees. Vanderbilt’s mascots, Cam the Cat, and Mr. Commodore, will also participate in the festivities, appearing in Squishmallows-themed attire.

A Student-Driven Initiative

The partnership originated from an idea developed by students at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. The concept was brought to Jazwares, the parent company of Squishmallows, by students with guidance from Assistant Professor Mario Avila, who focuses on entrepreneurship, sport, and social impact. Jeremy Padawer, chief brand officer of Jazwares and a Vanderbilt alumnus (MBA, 2001), highlighted the significance of the student involvement. “Vanderbilt students brought this concept to us, and we immediately knew it had the magic to become something bigger,” Padawer said.

Celebrating Commodore Spirit

Candice Storey Lee, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and University Affairs and Athletic Director, expressed excitement about the unique partnership. “We’re excited to introduce something truly unique for our fans,” Lee stated. “The fact that this partnership began on our campus and connects back to a Vanderbilt alumnus makes it even more special. It’s a celebration of creativity, community, and Commodore spirit.”

The men’s basketball game against Georgia is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. On February 25, followed by the women’s basketball game against Alabama at 6:30 p.m. On February 26. Tickets for both games are available at vucommodores.com.
