Star Wars Releases in 2026: Films, Series, and Comics

Happy New Year! 2025 is now a thing of the past (you may find a solid Star Wars recap here), and we’re looking ahead at 2026. Today, we’ll be breaking down all scheduled Star Wars releases for this year, from feature films (yes, finally!) to all planned comics releases.

Star Wars Feature Films Coming in 2026: The Mandalorian and Grogu

After a lot of failed attempts over the years, 2026 will finally see the return of Star wars to the big screen. That’s thanks to director Jon Favreau and The mandalorian and Grogu, which is set to take off on May 22.

The majority of the story details are currently being kept under wraps, but we do have a generic plot synopsis, and also some details: Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Ward sends Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu on a mission in the Outer Rim, in which they find Rotta the Hutt, voiced by jeremy Allen White. We also know that some characters from The Mandalorian Season 3 are returning, including Zeb (voiced by Steve Blum) and some of the Imperial Warlords that made up the Shadow Council.

From what we know,the movie came together as a strategy pivot when,in 2023,the Hollywood strikes prevented Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni from starting production on The Mandalorian Season 4 as early as they expected. Though not confirmed officially, it’s supposed to be a condensed version of the season 4 scripts, adapted to a big-screen format.

What happens next to the Mandalorian sub-franchise likely depends on the box office response to this movie. If it’s a success, we assume Disney and Lucasfilm might continue the story on the big screen, and if not, they will evaluate the feasibility of going back to TV.

After The Mandalorian and Grogu, there is already another Star Wars movie in the can and ready to be released, though it won’t happen in 2026. Star Wars: Starfighter wrapped production in late 2025, and will come out on may 28, 2027.

Live-Action Series Coming to Star Wars In 2026: ahsoka Season 2

The only live-action Star Wars series set to debut on Disney Plus this year is the second season of Ahsoka. Filming wrapped this fall, after mirroring the schedule of the first season. This might hint at a late-summer, early-fall release on streaming.

The story is currently being kept tightly under wraps. We know it will follow up on the ending of Season 1, with Baylan Skoll (this time around played by Rory McCann) tracking down the Mortis gods in Peridea, where Shin, Sabine, and Ahsoka were also stranded. In the meantime, Ezra and Thrawn made their way back to our main galaxy.

### Star Wars zero Company

bit Reactor’s long-in-the-making AAA game was officially revealed at Star Wars Celebration Japan, but we haven’t heard much about it since. We know it’s set during the Clone Wars, and it will focus on an elite squad of characters fighting for the Republic. Among others, the team includes a Jedi, a clone trooper, a Mandalorian, and an astromech droid. The team behind the game revealed some more details at the time, both about the gameplay and also the characters, which you can read here.

No release date has been confirmed. Respawn Entertainment, which produced the Star Wars Jedi games, also participated in the story. It will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer

This was a last-minute addition to the list. Lucasfilm Games,in partnership with Fuse Games and Secret mode,announced during the Game Awards in December that there is a second console game coming out in 2026 titled Star Wars: Galactic Racer. We certainly know it will feature the return of Sebulba, and will be centered around racing during the Empire era. No release date has been announced.

Eyes Like Stars

As described by author Ashley Poston, this is the first novel in a new Star Wars genre initiative that’ll take on romance, thriller, mystery, horror, etc. We certainly know that it’s set shortly before The Force Awakens and focuses on a couple we haven’t met, but we don’t know much else about the story. It’s poised for a summer release.

Star Wars: Legacy

Written by Madeleine Roux, the novel is set right before the events of The Rise of Skywalker and portrays the struggles both by Leia and rey to figure out a way forward after Luke’s passing at the end of The Last Jedi; particularly, in what concerns Rey’s training.The book is also set to feature a trip to Tython,which we saw in the Mandalorian Season 2,during which they will try to repair Rey’s lightsaber. Kylo Ren is also featured on the cover, hinting at his inclusion in the story, too. It’s currently set for release on July 28, 2026.

Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss

The second entry in the trilogy kick-started by 2025’s The Mask of Fear is written by Rebecca Roanhorse, and though we don’t know much about the story yet, we certainly know it’s set 6BBY, i.e., a few years after the first novel and right before the start of Andor.
