Harianjogja.com, JOGJAElectric Car Xiaomi SU7 officially discontinued. Xiaomi is now focusing resources on preparing a new model which is scheduled to launch in April 2026.

The decision to stop production of the SU7 is part of Xiaomi’s big strategy to strengthen its latest generation electric car line which is claimed to provide significant updates in design and performance.

Quoting a Carnews China report, this step was taken as a strategic transition for the company to strengthen its environmentally friendly vehicle portfolio. Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, said that the last olive green SU7 unit had been sent to its owner in Xi’an, marking the end of production of the model which has been marketed since April 2024.

Throughout its production period, the Xiaomi SU7 Electric Car recorded distribution of around 381,000 units. In detail, 130,000 units were sold in the first year and will increase to 258,000 units throughout 2025. This achievement makes the SU7 the best-selling premium EV sedan in China, even surpassing sales of the Tesla Model 3 thanks to the integration of the smart ecosystem which is its advantage.

Now, Xiaomi’s development is completely directed at the new generation of electric cars which promises major changes to the exterior and a more premium interior. Apart from that, this latest model is said to feature a more powerful and efficient drive system to answer the increasingly competitive need for low-emission mobility.

Even though demonstration units have been on display at a number of Xiaomi’s main outlets in China since February 13, the official launch of the newest Xiaomi Electric Car is still scheduled for April 2026. This confirmation also refutes speculation on social media that it will be released earlier in March.

The steps to stop production of the SU7 and preparations for this new model emphasize Xiaomi’s ambitions in the global automotive competition map. By relying on technological innovation and software integration, the latest generation of Xiaomi Electric Car is projected to once again strengthen the company’s position in the technology-based electric vehicle market.
