According to Suncheon City on the 10th, in Naganeupseong Fortress, red plum blossoms, especially Nabwol red plum, are recently swelling their buds and turning red, so it is expected that flowering will begin as early as around Lunar New Year.

Red plum blossoms are a representative spring flower that is the first to burst into flower buds even in the cold, and its red petals and delicate scent blend in with the quiet scenery of Naganeupseong Fortress, providing a unique attraction for visitors.

Naganeupseong Red Plum Street was created as part of the ‘Red Plum Village Development Project’ promoted from 2019 to 2022.

About 1,000 red plum trees, including Nabwol Hongmae and Neungsu Hongmae, were planted in and around Naganeupseong Fortress, making it a popular spot for walking and taking pictures.

In addition, 6 Nabwolmae trees are planted at Geumdunsa Temple near Naganeupseong Fortress, and it is known as the fastest-blooming plum tree in Jeollanam-do, making it a popular first course for plum blossom tours.

The red plum blossoms in Naganeupseong Fortress are expected to begin flowering at the end of this month and reach full bloom in early March, and the buds are currently swollen and turning red.

The Naganeupseong Support Office said, “We hope that tourists visiting Naganeupseong Fortress during the holidays will enjoy the atmosphere of early spring by taking pictures and enjoying the scent of red plum blossoms in a landscape of spring flowers and cultural heritage.”
