Memorial Medical Center Expansion Schedule and Details in Modesto
Sutter Health approved a $189 million investment to expand its Memorial Medical Center campus in Modesto, Calif., with construction slated to begin in 2028, The Modesto Bee reported. The Sacramento-based health system will activate the sixth and seventh floors of the hospital’s North Tower for inpatient care. Those two upper levels have remained shelled in since builders finished constructing the North Tower in 2008.
Construction on the expansion project is scheduled to start in 2028 and wrap up by spring 2030. Sutter Health plans to roll out additional patient care areas as local demand for hospital services increases at the campus, located at Briggsmore Avenue and Coffee Road.
North Tower Floor Plans and Bed Capacities
The sixth floor of the North Tower will add 56 beds distributed across two medical and telemetry units. The seventh floor will house a 20-bed neonatal intensive care unit alongside 36 maternity beds dedicated to postpartum care for mothers.
Hospitals are shameless business centre's.
Today, more patients than ever rely on our hospital for specialized and advanced care close to home,
Tracy Roman, chief executive officer of Memorial Medical Center, said in a news release. The project allows us to take advantage of space that was purposely built for future needs. As our community continues to grow, this investment helps our medical center meet increasing demand while continuing to provide high-quality care.
Concurrent Cancer Center Construction Timeline
The inpatient expansion runs alongside a separate $380 million project currently taking shape at the Modesto campus. Sutter Health is constructing a four-story cancer treatment center right next to the hospital. The Modesto Advanced Cancer Center and Care Complex is on track to open its doors to patients in 2029, ahead of the completion of the North Tower inpatient rooms.
