Suwon Eagles and Bundang Middle School Claim Gyeonggi Province National Winter Games Bids
The Suwon Eagles and Bundang Middle School have secured their positions as Gyeonggi Province’s representatives for the upcoming national winter sports competition, following a six-day qualifying tournament that concluded at the Goyang Oolimnuri Indoor Ice Rink.
Organized by the Gyeonggi Ice Hockey Association with financial backing from the Gyeonggi Sports Council, the 2026 Gyeonggi Youth Ice Hockey Tournament ran from October 25 to 30. The event served a dual purpose, functioning both as the 108th National Winter Sports Festival Gyeonggi representative qualifier and as the evaluation tournament for the 2027 U12 elementary division.
Defending Champions Secure Repeat Victories in Provincial Qualifier
Both Suwon Eagles and Bundang Middle School earned a return trip to the national stage for the second year. A total of 32 teams participated across various divisions in the Goyang tournament.
In the elementary division, five teams competed in a round-robin format. The Suwon Eagles finished at the top of the standings, followed by Ruby Ducks Blaze in second place and Hexa in third. Meanwhile, the middle school bracket saw Bundang Middle School defeat Geummyeong Middle School in two consecutive matches to lock up the representative spot without needing a third game.
Suwon Eagles Add Division Evaluation Title in Goyang
Beyond securing their spot in the winter games, the Suwon Eagles captured another victory in a separate U11 division evaluation match held during the event. Suwon defeated Goyang Rabbits 3-2 to claim the tournament win.
Gyeonggi Province captured the overall championship in ice hockey at the previous National Winter Sports Festival. The province is now positioning the newly selected Suwon Eagles and Bundang Middle School squads to defend that overall title at the next national competition.
