Suzan & Freek Release New Single ‘Halverwege’ and Share Heartwarming Moment with Son Sef
Dutch musical duo Suzan & Freek Rikkerink are set to release a new single, “Halverwege,” this Friday. The couple shared a touching video on Instagram of them playing the song for their son, Sef, born in December 2025.
A Family Performance
In the Instagram video, Freek can be seen playing his guitar even as Sef sits in a rocking chair. He asks his son, “Zal papa wat voor jou spelen?” (“Will Papa play something for you?”) After beginning to play, Sef makes joyful sounds, prompting Freek to playfully ask, “Ga je meezingen?” (“Are you going to sing along?”) Suzan then joins in, and the couple sings a portion of the new song together. Lyrics include, “Ik weet dat je het nooit zou vragen, maar ik kan ook wat zorgen dragen” (“I know you would never ask, but I can also take care of things”).
The Arrival of Sef
Suzan and Freek welcomed their son, Sef, on November 30, 2025. They announced his birth on Instagram, expressing their overwhelming love for their son, each other, and life. The couple previously shared their journey to parenthood, including a prior miscarriage and Freek’s diagnosis of stage four lung cancer with no chance of a cure, which they announced alongside the pregnancy.

The song “Halverwege” (Midway) promises to be an intimate and heartfelt addition to Suzan & Freek’s discography. Fans have already expressed excitement and emotion in response to the preview shared on social media, with some describing the lyrics as “already beautiful.”
