Suzuki Fronx Facelift Spotted Testing in India With Upgraded Safety and Engine Changes
Suzuki is preparing a refresh for the Fronx compact SUV, introducing a revised front grille, potential Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and a new three-cylinder engine. Prototypes of the updated model have been photographed undergoing road testing in India under heavy camouflage, as reported by oto.detik.com on November 1, 2026.
While the Suzuki Fronx remains relatively fresh in international markets—having debuted in India in 2023 and later displayed at events like the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show—the upcoming facelift targets specific mechanical and technological updates. Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced an official launch date or complete specifications for the refreshed model.
Exterior Revisions and Split Lighting Retained
Test mules captured in India indicate that the exterior updates on the Suzuki Fronx facelift will be evolutionary rather than radical. According to Blackxperience, the signature coupe-style body silhouette, sloping roofline, and rear spoiler remain unchanged beneath the camouflage.

The front end retains its split headlamp configuration, where the primary headlights sit in a lower position. However, the front grille receives a new design with a revised mesh pattern, and the Suzuki corporate logo is expected to shift upward onto the leading edge of the hood. These modifications are accompanied by refreshed front and rear bumpers, along with updated LED lighting signatures.
Advanced Driver Assistance and Rear Disc Brakes
The repositioned space on the front fascia is widely anticipated to house a radar sensor module, which would support a suite of Level 2 safety features. VIVA.co.id reported that the upcoming driver assistance technologies could include Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure Warning.
Underneath the vehicle, test prototypes show a shift from rear drum brakes to rear disc brakes, replacing the current setup that pairs front discs with rear drums.
Transition to Z-Series Three-Cylinder Powerplants
A primary mechanical update involves the vehicle’s powertrain options. The outgoing 1.2-liter four-cylinder K12N naturally aspirated engine is expected to be replaced by the newer 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z12E engine from the latest Suzuki Swift generation. This powerplant produces 81.8 horsepower and 112.4 Newton-meters of torque in gasoline configuration, while the CNG variant outputs 68.8 horsepower and 101.8 Newton-meters of torque.
Transmission choices for the 1.2-liter engine include a five-speed manual and a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Meanwhile, the existing 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder K10C engine is expected to carry over, paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Mild-hybrid options for larger 1.5-liter naturally aspirated configurations are also slated to remain available in select regional markets.
Regional Rollout and Domestic Expectations
Industry reports place the initial debut of the Suzuki Fronx facelift in India, with an expected arrival sometime next year. Following its domestic launch, the refreshed SUV is anticipated to roll out to other international markets, including Indonesia, in a phased release schedule.

In the Indonesian market, where 18 Suzuki Fronx Hybrid units owned by local customers and DPT United Indobali (UIB) recently participated in a regional touring event from Denpasar through Gianyar and Bangli to Kintamani organized by PT United Indobali, consumers await official word from Suzuki regarding the domestic introduction timeline and exact regional specifications.
Touring and Fuel Efficiency Demonstrations
During the Suzuki Fronx Journey to Kintamani, General Manager of Suzuki United Indobali, Mas Hendrawan, noted that the event titled “Satu Perjalanan, Seribu Cerita” aimed to let participants experience the vehicle’s comfort in heavy city traffic such as Denpasar and its capability on steep highland roads. Mas Hendrawan stated, Through this One Journey, A Thousand Stories tour, we want Suzuki Fronx lovers to have a pleasant driving experience, and of course introduce the existence of the Suzuki Fronx to the wider community.
and added, Through this tour, we want to prove that the fuel consumption of the Suzuki Fronx is not wasteful, so people do not need to worry because the technology used in this product is very friendly but does not reduce its comfort and toughness.
