Karlstads Curlingklubb: A Legacy of Champions
Karlstads Curlingklubb (Karlstads CK), located in Karlstad, Sweden, has established itself as a powerhouse in the world of curling. A History of Success
Founded on October 12, 1926, at Stadshotellet in Karlstad, Karlstads CK quickly became a central hub for curling enthusiasts in Sweden. The club held its inaugural match on December 28, 1927, competing against teams from other Swedish cities. Team Niklas Edin: Olympic and World Champions
Currently, Karlstads CK is best known as the home club of Team Niklas Edin. This team has achieved remarkable success on the international stage, securing a record of five World Curling Championship titles and seven European Curling Championship titles. [1] Their Olympic journey has also been impressive, culminating in a Bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Games, a Silver medal at the 2018 Winter Games, and a Gold medal at the 2022 Winter Games. [1]
Elisabeth Högström and Women’s Curling Excellence
Karlstads CK’s legacy extends beyond men’s curling. The club was also the home of Elisabeth Högström, who skipped one of the most successful women’s curling teams of all time. Högström’s team achieved a historic milestone by winning Sweden’s first women’s World Curling Championship gold medal, alongside two World Curling Championship silver medals and four European Curling Championship gold medals.
