Tam Xuan Civil Defense Prepares Disaster Response Drills

Local authorities in Tam Xuan commune organized practical training and disaster prevention drills focusing on search-and-rescue operations and emergency evacuations. Vulnerable zones identified by the commune’s civil defense command include the villages of Ngoc An, Ha Loc, Long Thanh, Thach Kieu, and Bich An.

Village Officials Train for Severe Floods

The civil defense command conducted training sessions for village officials and militia forces covering severe rains, storms, and rising floodwaters. Instructors taught evacuation protocols for residents trapped in hazardous sectors and established rapid-response protocols across village units.

Captain Hoang Minh Su, deputy commander of the Tam Xuan commune military command, stated that the program prioritized drowning rescue techniques and first-aid provision for injured residents. “These skills are essential for a region like Tam Xuan, rich in waterways, sea, and lakes,” Hoang said.

Evacuation Plans and Supply Stockpiles

Authorities designated local schools as primary evacuation shelters for residents displaced by floods. The Tam Xuan military command deployed 10 regular officers, four mobile militia sections, 10 personnel from the Tam Thanh border guard station, and 20 commune police officers for emergency coordination.

The locality deployed two vehicles for rescue operations and stocked food supplies sufficient for seven days alongside three-day dry rations.

Commune Preparations Across the Region

Tam My commune established flood management plans for 1,162 households comprising 3,208 residents requiring relocation. Nguyen Quang Thanh of the Tam My commune people’s committee noted that 639 households will shelter in place while 523 households will undergo centralized evacuation during level two, three, and four floods.
